Battle of Ajnadayn
The Battle of Ajnadayn took place in Jumadah al-Awwal of 13 Hijrah. Ajnadayn was the name of a settlement along the coast of Palestine. A battle ensued here between the Muslims and Byzantine forces, who numbered 100,000. According to the narrations, the commander of the Byzantine forces at Ajnadayn was Theodore, the brother of the Byzantine emperor Heraclius. A Muslim army numbering 35,000 defeated the Byzantines and conquered Ajnadayn.
